What are Lash Extensions?

Lash extensions are a premiere luxury service and product that adds length and thickness to your natural eyelash appearance. Lash extensions are single strands of synthetic mink eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural lash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Lash extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear.

How long will it take to apply lash extensions and how is it done?

The application process for lash extensions normally takes anywhere from 1.5- 2.5 hours. You will lay comfortably on a facial/massage bed with your eyes closed. Your Lash Artist will then apply an under eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes. The extensions will then be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis.

How long will a set of lash extensions last?

When applied properly, lash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone’s experience and results will differ based on day to day activities but fills should only be required every 2-3 weeks.

How often should I get a fill?

Like your nails and the hair on your head, your individual eyelashes grow out on a continuous cycle of replenishment. While some individual lash extensions may last as long as 1.5 months, to ideally maintain the fullness and for best results, we recommend you schedule a fill every 2-3 weeks. If you wait too long your extensions will become sparse and you will require a full set.

What do lash extensions look and feel like when applied?

With proper application, meaning one synthetic mink lash applied to one natural eyelash the look and feel is completely natural looking and real. No one will know you have extensions, and you won’t even feel them. They will just think you were born with beautiful, long lashes!

How do I choose the look I want?

Lash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thickness. Your Lash Artist will assess and determine what your natural eyelashes can hold in regards to size and length. Each person’s eyelashes will vary in strength and length. Your Lash Artist will take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall look of the lashes is very natural, and we look forward to creating the perfect, customized look just for you!

Can I swim, shower, exercise or visit a spa while wearing lash extensions?

Yes. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. Make sure you wash your lashes with cleanser after sweating at the gym, going swimming or working outside in dust and pollen.

Do I have to do anything to prepare for the service?

Please use an oil-free makeup remover to cleanse your lashes prior to the appointment as well to remove any leftover mascara. Right before the appointment you may be asked to cleanse your lashes with a mild cleanser to remove any leftover oils. Lashes should not be permed or manually curled at the time of appointment. If you wear contacts you may choose to remove them before your appointment as they may become dry during your session.

Can I wear mascara with my extensions?

No! Mascara is difficult to clean off natural eyelashes without oil as it is. It is near impossible to remove mascara without pulling and potentially causing damage to your natural eyelashes. Evidence of mascara at the beginning of a fill appointment will require a full extension removal and reschedule a full set.

Is the product FDA approved? Is it safe?

Currently the FDA is not regulating lash extensions because the extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free and so relaxing that most clients fall asleep during the procedure. However, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural eyelashes. All products used in Wink by B are Borboleta Beauty and require a license number to purchase and are of the highest quality on the market.

What happens if I choose to have my eyelash extensions removed?

We offer a removal service that is a short thirty-minute appointment in which I apply a gel remover. The gel remover is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away with lint free applicators exposing the natural lashes.
